Management Questions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Management Questions - Essay Example Concentration is a unit of summary measures that connects proportion with numbers. Regardless of the knowledge on customer's risks of individuals with high accuracy degree or knowledge on the relationship between customers' risks a reduced concentration will lead to an overall reduction on the organizations credit risk exposure and its range of receivables thus increasing the firm's diversification The management should be deeply concerned in overcoming initial pitfalls and in provision of the finances required in the export process. These he can do by closely monitoring the efforts towards international marketing. The management should seek export guidance from qualified personnel which will assist them in developing a good marketing strategy prior to the start of the export business. The developed strategy should incorporate the export objectives plus expected 'negatives'. The management should be extra cautious when selecting distributors from overseas. Best distributors are those who are very independent in their work. However, the international distributors should be given the same treatment as the domestic counterparts with much emphasis on orderly growth and profitable ventures. The management should never hold assumptions that given product marketing techniques will obviously succeed in all countries i.e. what works in Israel may fail in Korea. It is therefore important for the management to treat each market separately in order to succeed. Since each country has a different culture and therefore a different cultural preference the management should have the willingness to modify their products so as to meet the said differences. The management should take advantage of economies of scale. This can be made possible through the enlargement of the overall sales base so as to spread the exports fixed costs. Question five The management might be required to divert its key personnel from the domestic responsibilities so as they can help in developing the company's export procedures. The initial procedures and start-up decisions might end up consuming most of the company's precious time a thing that will slow its operations. The whole excise might turn out to be very expensive since the sales promotion material, brochures and catalogues will be required to be translated in the many foreign languages involved in the exporting business. Together with these the company might need to add its plant facilities so as to cope with the now expanding market. Export will definitely require additional funds because it is known to be a very expensive exercise which involves regular product modifications so as to meet the varying specifications of the foreign markets. The management will be required to allow credit terms so as to keep pace with the highly competitive global market, the local customs authority and the travel arrangements. Question six Where transportation means are not available the company will make low sales. Also when the transportation costs are too high the company will be constrained on the amount to

Ddp week2 - Essay Example This is exactly what this essay seeks to do. Rentschler (2003) opines that â€Å"emotions are the result of a logical appraisal of the probability that a situation will effect a positive or negative change to our physical or psychological well being.† Emotion therefore refers to the reaction that our minds give to an occurrence or event around us. Emotion is a personal feeling that may vary from person to person – thus two people will feel differently towards the same occurrence. Emergence can be said to represent how complex systems result out of relatively simple systems or interactions. To this effect, (Lewes 1875, p. 412) has it that â€Å"every resultant is either a sum or a difference of the co-operant forces; their sum, when their directions are the same -- their difference, when their directions are contrary† (Blitz 1992). Research can simply be said to be the search of knowledge. Research also involves re-learning about a thing or a phenomenon. Research has been made to appear quite complicated and formal because there are a lot of academic theories and conventions surrounding it. To conduct a research therefore, one has to follow some laid down procedure. Keegan (2009) views emergence from an angle where it impacts on the conduct of research rather than emergence having a role in the results or analysis of data. This is indeed unlike he did for emotion, which shall be discussed later. Keegan (2009) posits that â€Å"web communications, crowd behaviour and brand evolution can all be thought of in terms of emergence.† This means that Keegan relates emergence to the point of view where researchers take issues. By this, emergence makes the conduct and manipulation of concepts in research work more complex and complicated. This is because as seen in the definition of term, emergence is characterized complexity out of simple phenomenon. There could however be a

Reading reflection 6 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Reading reflection 6 - Essay Example According to the article, the police generally will associate certain crimes with a certain race. The police have a set mentality on a crime committed. The will go to brutal lengths in order to prove that certain minorities commit crimes more often. Police brutality will usually occur because of a number of reasons. The most common one is racial discrimination. Between 1990 and 1994, 89% of reported custody deaths involved Hispanics or African Americans (Elisha, Joshua & Zenobia 2010). These are examples of police brutality cases that are reported. Such examples include those involving Patrick Hall, Rodney king and Oscar Grant. I concur with the author’s views on Police brutality and racial discrimination. Police brutality especially towards the minority is not always physical. This is best illustrated by the case of a Patrick Hall. Patrick Hall, an African American who served in the US army. He then enrolled at Illinois State University from where he started his own business. Hall employed most of his friends who were also black. The police started harassing him as soon as they discovered his progress (Elisha, Joshua & Zenobia 2010). The police would humiliate Hall with random checks for illegal activities. They went as far as surveying and intimidating Hall. This forced him to shut down the business and leave the city. This is a classic case of emotional and verbal abuse among minorities. Police brutality will happen for a number of reasons. Chief among them is racial discrimination. Use of excessive force is described as police brutality. By 1999, 75% of males who were African American are pulled over because they were Black (The Struggle Against racial Profiling). Law enforcement officers will verbally, emotionally and physically offensive to citizens of race. However, the number of such incidences is decreasing constantly in the wake of human rights awareness. A criminal justice

Explain which inventory systems should be used in each situation Assignment

Explain which inventory systems should be used in each situation - Assignment Example a. For the purposes of supplying my kitchen with fresh food, I would consider the fixed-time period model for my inventory system. This is because fresh food should be of constant supply in my kitchen and ready to use at any given time, hence I would order at certain intervals of time for example every weekend. It is also more convenient due to the different types of fresh food involved. b. Obtaining a daily news paper is definitely more of a one-time purchase, thus i would apply the single-period model for my daily newspaper. This is because I would either receive the evening news paper once in a day or the morning news paper once in a day depending with my preference. c. For the purposes of buying gas for my car i would prefer the fixed-order quantity model since I would like to maintain a given quantity of gas in my car at any given time. This quantity of gas is only eligible for refill when my car almost runs out of the quantity I purchased earlier so as to reduce my level of stocking out. The item in my list with the highest stock out cost is buying gas for my car. This is because I would only want to maintain gas quantity in my car to a certain level with a given quantity so that i would monitor it to a level that the stock out risk is great enough for me to order a

Why did capitalism emerge as mature system in Britain Research Paper

Why did capitalism emerge as mature system in Britain - Research Paper Example The topic of capitalism was originally brought about by Karl Marx and his colleague Fredrick Engels, who were both historians and theorists. According to Marx, capitalism originated from the Western Europe, more specifically in England. This is reiterated by Max Weber, who describes England as â€Å"the home of capitalism† (Jean Baechler et al. 1988, p. 185). Capitalism in England can be traced from the sixteenth century which coincided with the Agrarian revolution that was slowly taking place. Capitalism was, therefore, largely seen in the land ownership and agricultural production that characterized this revolution. During the sixteenth century, most parts of Europe were undergoing the Agrarian revolution. Typically, human beings engaging in agriculture in most parts of Europe were categorized into two main groups; the people who practiced agriculture (peasants) and those who appropriated other people’s labor. In this arrangement, those who worked on the land (peasant farmers) possessed land and had access to what they produced on their farms. However, the appropriators of labor (who were either the State or landowners) controlled what these peasants farmers sold or remained with for storage. This surplus produce was taken from the peasants by use of coercion which was carried out through various means such as judicial, military or political power. According to Marx, this kind of exploitation through direct coercion was referred to â€Å"extra-economic† means. This was, however, different from the developed capitalism where the farmers (producers) are completely property-less, onl y relying on wages in exchange of their labor-power in working on landowners’ properties (Wallerstein 2011). In this kind of capitalist relationship between appropriators and producers, what mattered most were the markets and the forces involved in them. For example, markets determined what the appropriators got in exchange

The queen of spades by pushkin, and The Shining Movie - Research Paper Example When the story unfolds the life of Hermann, an officer of the engineers in the Imperial Russian Army, and his attempts at the fortune of cards by some fouls means and, the movie revolves around the writer, Jack Torrance who takes a job as an off-season caretaker at an isolated hotel with his wife and son. The movie portrays the mysterious and the crucial series of incidents that took place in the life of Jack and his family during their stay at the hotel which is believed to be the abode of ghosts and evil souls. While going through both the story and the movie, one can see that both deals with ghosts to create an atmosphere of horror. Both Hermann and Jack suffer as a result of false imaginations. When Hermann in the story suffers from sleeplessness and horrid images of the ghost of the dead Countess as an outcome of his greediness to hoard money through gambling, Jack in the Movie The film ‘The Shining’ has almost all the features of a horror movie. ‘‘The Shining is set in the apotheosis of the Bad Place: not a haunted house, but a haunted hotel, with a different ‘real’ horror movie playing in almost every one of its guest rooms and suites’’ (254). The presentation of the characters and the scenes also conjoin with the nature of the movie. ‘King places a family which is already in crisis in this evil setting. People and place interact to create horror which is both natural and supernatural’ (Sharon 46). Stephen King, whose novel ‘The Shining’ has been filmed with the same title, states, â€Å"Horror allows us to penetrate the mystery of death: horror, on the one hand, shows a way to cope with death and, on the other hand, even suggests what might happen beyond death† (Heidi 119). The novel and the film provide so many instances establishing this fact through the life of the central character Jack. It was his attempt to penetrate into the mystery of "crazy woman in one of the rooms" creates all the troubles in his life (Heidi
